"Matter of Physics" (2002) [buy] [reviews]

The album was recorded in a small live room designed for commercial voice-overs. The room was barely large enough to fit much more than a drum kit, and several microphones. Ian used Logic Audio, and a Macintosh G4, as well as other standard outboard gear to record and produce all tracks on the album. Mixes were performed on Genelec monitors. The album was mastered at Colossal Mastering.

All the material on the album was written within the first year of the band's existence. The gear used in the studio is about the same as what you'd see live:

Nels:
Kurzweil PC2x
Roland 3080 Module
Nord Lead
Roland Expression Pedal

1980's Fender Mexi-Tele

Mesa Pocket Rocket Pedal
Gretsch Acoustic

Matt:
Yamaha Maple Custom Drums
Zildjian Cymbals
Bison Snare
